Whatever happens, don't let the US department of Homeland Security hear this tape. They would certainly arrest Phil Lesh and charge him with terrorism - he was clearly trying to blow up Madison Square Garden with the BOMBS he was dropping during the intro jam.

You know that the Other One is my favorite song, so thanks for the recommend.

I just discovered that I was giggling like a little girl while listening to this One- oops -at least I didn't wet myself. Now I know this show....

I find that I've tended rate (my enjoyment of) show performance, audio quality, song selection, tours even on TOO....not even on purpose: guess things happen that way.

Thanks again!

Thanks Charlie

Although I have listened to a few from this run, I am not so familiar with January 79. I have heard you mention that it's your favorite second set as well.

Jerry said there was the band pre Egypt and post Egypt.

79 is, flat out, one of my favorite years. They seemed to be listening to each other, and when they were on.... It is an entire new dimension of delicious. There is a strong possibility I could make a case for finding the all time great renditions of many many songs during this period.

The musical period of October 79- all the way through to 1-13-80 Produced some real corkers of shows. Some if my favorite 79;
2-3-79 legendary s>f
5-5-79 an all time sugaree
11-2-79 1/2 step >franklins and my favorite moment of gd history in nfa
11-25-79 can you name a better jack straw? Listened to it 1001 times
11-29/30-79 ah well...

Back later w my review of 1-8-79

Peace

1979 really is the Bizarro-World version of 1976. Interesting things happened, some good, some bad. But early 79, for as dysfunctional/obsolete as the Godchaux's were, and all the other problems like Phil being a drunk, and other other obvious isues, it's got some really freakin great music. I mean who can put on something like 1/15 and say they don't like it? Then there's Fall of 79...yeah...I dig 79.
